It is Christmas time and everybody likes to be with his family and friends. Also in La Herradura arrived a little bit of this feeling, even if it’s hard for some students to think of Christmas when there are 30° outside. But as the students who are spending Christmas in Uruguay can´t be with there families, there are other people who can’t too – but not because they made this choice.

On the 22th of December, we made a party for the children of ICA (Instituto Camino Abierto – “open way institute”). One of our students is working there as a volunteer but some more students found together to help and so we all were excited about the idea to change the kids normal life a little bit. So we invited them all (about 15 kids and teens) to come to our school residence. They were very excited – the same as we. But all went out very well and we had a great day together: Dancing to party sounds (and these south American kids really know how to dance…), eating German cakes, laughing, speaking, playing „Topfschlagen“ (“Hit the Pot”) and having a lot of fun.

This was a very nice chance in our day-to-day school life but the best thing was to see the happiness in the kid´s eyes – a perfect Christmas present for all of us!
