This month we realized a literature workshop with a group of American students and would like to share this experience with you.

The main objective of the workshop was to approximate the cultures of Uruguay and other parts of Latin America through literary texts.

The reading of short stories from Uruguayan writers like Natalia Mardero and Leo Maslíah, Argentinian writers like Julio Cortázar and Mexican writers like Juan José Arreola permits the students to reach a vocabulary that on the first sight had appeared very distant to them but which now facilitates their daily practice of the language and amplifies their communication spectrum.

To read, understand what had been read and write own texts were some of the objectives accomplished by the literature workshop which did not only intend to perfect the grammar of the students but also make it a creative, diverting and, above all, integral experience to study the language.
