Internships
Do you want to gain experience and make your CV really stand out? An internship in Spain could be just what you’re looking for.
Working in a company in Spain not only offers you the opportunity to complement your studies with practical in-company experience, but also to improve your Spanish skills and get to know aspects of Spanish life, language and culture that you might not experience as a tourist. Below is a range of current internship opportunities, but please contact us if you wish to intern in another area and we will work to make it possible. The internships are unpaid.
SPANISH COURSE
You take part in daily group classes in our school in La Herradura as an intensive preparation for the second part of your trip. The Spanish courses are available at all levels from beginner to advanced. In most cases it lasts a minimum of four weeks; if your Spanish is already advanced you can book a volunteering programme without an intensive Spanish course. Equally you can extend the Spanish course if you wish.
Groups will be made up according to the results of the Level Tests done on the first day of classes. Two hours daily will be dedicated to grammar, in which you can expect a teacher-led explanation of an area of grammar, with spoken and written examples, exercises, and opportunities to practice and ask questions. The focus in these classes is on understanding and accuracy. Two hours daily will be dedicated to conversation, with a discussion appropriate to the level led by the teacher but taking into account the students’ interests and views. The focus in these classes is on self-expression and fluency, although the teacher will correct errors or clarify grammar as appropriate.
Classes take place between 09:00 and 15:00 from Monday to Friday. There will be a break of 15-20 minutes between the two-hour classes. If there are no other students at your level, you will receive one-to-one tuition with half the number of classes daily. At some point during your Spanish course you will be introduced to the on-site co-ordinator of your ranch stay, internship or volunteer programme, who will talk to you in detail about the second part of your trip and show you how to get there by public transport if necessary.
SPANISH AND INTERNSHIP
After completing your intensive Spanish course you will begin the internship, for which a minimum of four weeks is required. Internships are available in the sectors of tourism, education, administration, marketing and graphic design. Alternatively, let us know which field of work you wish to intern in and we will do our best to arrange a programme that meets your specific requirements. Generally we work with small –to-medium sized enterprises in La Herradura, Almuñecar, or Nerja. If you have previous experience or relevant skills they will be taken into account when deciding which internship suits you best, along with your personal preference and the demands of the company. Some companies require an interview with the intern before the placement begins.
