En nuestra escuela puedes combinar tu curso de español con un trabajo de voluntariado. Una chica belga asistió a un curso de español intensivo de 4 semanas y después empezó a trabajar con niños con una leve discapacidad mental durante 3 meses // At our school you can combine your Spanish course with volunteering. A Belgian girl signed up for a 4 weeks Spanish course and volunteered with Children with a small mental disability.

I would recommend to all the people who want to do volunteer work to go and take a look at ICA and see with their own eyes what great work they do and how they try to make the best of each day with the little materials and things that they have and how they bring a little sunshine each day in the lives of the kids. A Belgian student, working with Children with a small mental disability wrote following:  “each week is a box full of surprises. It is like different presents that you unwrap and that surprise you in a good way. I hope to open up many more presents in the time that i am here and reveal the beauty that is hidden inside of them” read more



As you know, La Herradura offers different volunteer options, working at a biological farm is one of the options. We would like to share the expierence of a Britsch, Dutch and American student.

It was nice when guests came because, out of working hours, I was encouraged to socialize, and I took these opportunities gladly. Not only was it helpful to hear more spoken Spanish, people wanted to know what on earth I was doing in the middle of the countryside in Uruguay. Had they stayed the prior night I would have replied with “the food”. The food at the Estancia was to die for. Delicious, fresh, flavorful and plenty of it! Read more

De buitenlucht ruikt ’s morgens heerlijk. Ik stond wat eerder op, zette een lekker bakje koffie en dronk dat op aan de tafel die buiten stond. Je hebt daar internet en Theo de hond kwam dan gezellig bij mij liggen. ‘s morgens om half 8 moet je bij de koeienmelkplaats zijn om de koeien te melken. Meer lezen.

I am sharing a room with the two girls – totally fine – but no windows and no screens so hot at night. Then Disa happens to casually mention – “Yes, we have found two scorpions in the room – small ones though. Their bite won’t kill you.” I found two tiny frogs in the bathroom this morning. There was a  bat flying around the kitchen last night while making diner. Ayeee!!! Quite different from La Herradura – and no alcohol allowed – what a trial!!! Read more
