On Thursday, July 2nd two of our students from La Herradura went on a trip to Prado, which´s a neighbourhood in the north-western outskirts of Montevideo. The students were guided by school staff to share their local knowledge on the history of the area with the students.

They have visited the president’s house, which sits on a plot of land that takes up a whole block. The president isn’t currently living there but it is used for meetings and events. Whilst walking along the streets of Prado, we could see many examples of traditional Uruguayan architecture and get a feel for suburban life in the city. We were then able to spend time exploring the beautiful Japanese garden and visit the Juan Manuel Blanes museum of art. The group then strolled through Prado’s beautiful botanic garden and rosary in the sunshine.

A good opportunity to spend time practising Spanish whilst discovering Montevideo. More information
